Fire of Life

We sat beside a little fire
Beneath a harvest moon
We sat together you and I
Perfectly in tune
We watched the ballet dancers
They took the form of flames
They rose and fell in graceful swirls
And played their subtle games
As we watched the flames burned down
The dancers faded fast
The glowing embers took their place
Like life they could not last
Like life they blazed intensely
With many highs and lows
Then they slowly died away
That's just the way life goes

Simple

A simple meal from stalk and vine
A cozy home for me and mine
Neighbors nice but not too near
A friendly soul to lend an ear
No credit cards they only tempt
No worries that you can't exempt
Simple is the way to live
Simple joys receive and give
Simple love fulfillment met
Simple truth example set

Chicken Hawk Pot Pie

There's a chicken hawk a-circlin' over our old chicken pen
But there ain't no chickens peckin' and may never be again
We ate the last one weeks ago, now there's nothin' in the coop
Today we're eatin' cactus pie and chicken feather soup
If that chicken hawk keeps circlin' he'd better circle high
Or I'll catch that rascal by the neck and we'll have
CHICKEN HAWK POT PIE!
