Clyde, Oklahoma

space of two weeks
the whole
damned town's empty

and the years
roll in
loading
the winter horizon

into a hammered
wheat silo

and the rains
will begin

Blue As Venus

Coming through the trees
To the edge of grass
Out on the open plain
Climbing up onto the ridge
To see now for a wide distance
The sky spread the night clear
And planet Earth in the far quadrant
Shining blue as Venus ever did.

Curly

Has anyone here
Saw
Curly he said
Has anyone here
Saw
Curly i said
Curly are you there
He said what
Are you looking for
I said I
He said am
Curly
Is not here
He said
Is Curly
Said
Don't shoot

What the Green Corn

What the green corn breathes
and what I am
are blown across self
old rippled sea bed rock
pictures of the same tones
movement over time music
that music worn away by
wood wind leaves in oak
caught up in crowded
banter of crows above
and in the subtle and
smokey taste of the
green corn wind burning.
